This project is led by the Department of Climate Change and National Resilience. NSRUDP aims to improve water sanitation and solid waste urban services in Nauru. The services will be the managed by Nauru Utilities Corporation (NUC) and Nauru Rehabilitation Corporation (NRC). Funding is from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) (US$37.5 grant) and GoN (US$2.3m)
Proposed NSRUDP includes
Water supply
Sanitation
Piped water supply to approximately 1,215 households and businesses in the high-density area between Baitsi and Yaren. The water will be sourced from the Aiwo desalination plant
Two new water storage reservoirs and a pump station will be built at Aiwo to ensure a continuous supply and good water pressure
A review of household rainwater systems and advice on maintenance
A new septage treatment facility at the dumpsite to treat toilet waste from septic tanks and cesspits
Decommissioning of the old National Sanitation Facility next to Nauru Primary School and reinstatement of the land
A new septage truck for pumping out toilet waste from septic tanks and cesspits and transporting the waste to the dump for treatment
A review of cesspit and septic tanks maintenance and management
